Art and its expression is an important element to the Oak Park Village vibe.
Murals, mosaics, and yes, for the fifth year in a row, sculptures all can be found, viewed and enjoyed throughout the many corners of our Village.
So it is no surprise that Oak Park continues to sponsor the popular Sculpture Walk which brings artistic talent to Oak Park in the form of 12 original art installations. A call is put out by Oak Park’s Public Art Advisory Commission seeking proposals for sculptures from artists in the spring. The commission then picks 12 sculptures based on originality and merit. The sculptures then become a part of the annual summer display.
This year’s 2016 sculpture walk can be found nestled in the landscape of Mills Park at 217 South Home Avenue. Mills Park, which also houses the Pleasant Home Museum, is a perfect serene back drop to this years eclectic mix of artist talent. The sculptures are up and ready to be appreciated now through September 5th!
